The Volley S3 gave emotions at the Pala Calafiore in Reggio Calabria, where the last stage of the Tour della Schiacciata took place. The participation of the very young athletes from the sports clubs of Reggio Calabria and the rest of the region was good and, in the afternoon, they colored and animated the arena with enthusiasm and desire to play. In the morning, the presence of students was reduced due to the school closure order issued by the Municipality of Reggio Calabria following the Civil Protection weather alert.
«This event was a great success here in Reggio Calabria, as demonstrated by the presence of many boys and girls – explains Marco Mari, Fipav Federal Councilor – The S3 Village is part of a project that the Federation is carrying out with conviction, because we believe a lot in the activity of the territories. The results obtained at an international level, considering that in addition to the successes of the senior teams we are also Under 21 world champions with the women, Under 21 world vice champions for the men, Under 16 European champions with the boys, arise precisely from the work of the clubs and coaches. It is thanks to their passion and ability to make young people fall in love with volleyball that Italy continues to grow and achieve great satisfaction.”
The enthusiasm of Volley S3 was led as always by Andrea Lucchetta, master smart coach and one of the creators of the project, and by Valerio Vermiglio, European champion with the national team and testimonial of the initiative: together with the smart coaches of Fipav Reggio Calabria, they enlivened the day with recreational-motor activities and moments of great energy.
«The local sports clubs responded in an extraordinary way with the hall full of young athletes, this is a beautiful event, which we have been waiting for for a long time – adds Carmelo Sestito, president of the Fipav Calabria Regional Committee – we have finally managed to fulfill this dream of the children, instructors and smart coaches present. We hope to leave everyone with good memories and to be able to host the S3 Village in Calabria again soon.”
Also in this stage, after the debut in Mantua, and then Campobasso, Parma and Caserta, there was no shortage of Sitting Volley S3, the inclusive version of the project which from this edition has allowed everyone, without distinction, to share the same gaming experience. This is a strong signal and an educational and social message that the Schiacciata Tour brings throughout Italy.
«We had a great response, not only from the clubs in our territory but from all of Calabria, so much so that clubs from Central Calabria and Cosenza came to PalaCalafiore: a concrete sign of synergy between the three committees and the regional one – concludes Domenico Panuccio, President of the Fipav Reggio Calabria Territorial Committee – there are athletes, technicians and families who are experiencing a real day of celebration. We had been chasing the possibility of hosting this event in Reggio Calabria for a long time and we finally succeeded. I thank President Manfredi and the Federal Council for choosing our city as the final stage of this edition of S3.”
The Tour della Schiacciata 2025 officially ends with the Reggio Calabria stage, which over the course of the year brought volleyball and its values to squares and schools throughout Italy, combining sport, culture and inclusion. An opportunity for growth, meeting and sharing for children, families, schools and territories: this year too, Volley S3 confirms itself as much more than a sporting activity, it is the project that continues to cross Italy with the contagious energy of the most beautiful sport in the world.
The 2025 circuit of the Tour della Schiacciata made use of the support of ESA with the IRIDE Project, MASAF – ISMEA, EBRI, University of Rome Tor Vergata, Campagna Amica (Coldiretti), Susan G. Komen Italia, Decathlon and Rai Kids.
