A phase of bad weather affects Italy in this first week of March with a low pressure vortex currently moving over the central Mediterranean. Rain and thunderstorms will mainly affect the Central-Southern regions in the next few hours, while in the North the situation will temporarily improve.

Colder climate but with temperatures still around the average for the period and snow which also made its appearance in the Apennines.

In the Alps, especially in the western sectors, very heavy snowfall with accumulations of fresh snow locally exceeding one metre.

These are the latest updates from the Italian Weather Center which indicate a week of instability with scattered rain and showers in the coming days when the Mediterranean will still be a crossroads of disturbed impulses. Next weekend could also see a new worsening of the weather arriving from the west.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR TODAY IN THE NORTH

In the morning, cloudy skies with scattered precipitation, snow on the mountains above 1100 metres. In the afternoon, residual precipitation with snow on the Romagna Apennines above 1400 metres, dry variability elsewhere. In the evening the weather will generally improve, with clear or slightly cloudy skies.
