WTA Finals, fairytale debut for Jasmine Paolini: beat Rybakina in two sets

Debut with victory for Jasmine Paolini in the Purple Group of the WTA Finals in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The 28-year-old Tuscan tennis player, number 4 in the world ranking and the first Italian since 2015 to participate in the Masters at the end of the year, won Elena Rybakina, fifth in the WTA rankings, 7-6(5) 6-4thus reaching 3-2 in direct matches with the Kazakh team now coached by Goran Ivanisevic.

On Monday the Italian, also present in the doubles tournament with Sara Errani, a team that won the Olympic gold in Paris, will take to the court again to face the Chinese Qinwen Zheng, defeated on her debut 6-3 6-4 by number one in the world ranking, the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.
