What happened in the afternoon at the north side entrance of Sant’Alessio Siculo is a mystery. A 77-year-old man resident in the town, who was traveling on his bicycle, was found bleeding on the ground just before 4pm on the connecting road that leads to the footbridge of the Agrò stream, in a curved section on the edge of the lane towards Catania. The elderly man was noticed by a passer-by who notified the emergency services and the 118 health workers, the Carabinieri and the local police of Sant’Alessio Siculo arrived on site: the medical staff found the man had a head injury with a lacerated and contused wound and after initial treatment on site the 77-year-old was transferred in code red by ambulance to the Messina Polyclinic.
