“The Municipal Administration of Catanzaro, led by the mayor Nicola Fioritacontinues with determination its action to combat school escape, convinced that education represents the fundamental pillar for the growth and development of the community”. The councilor for Public Education and Social Policies writes this in a note, Nunzio Belcaroafter, as a result of the investigative activity carried out by the competent Sector, ten official warning letters were sent from Palazzo De Nobili addressed to as many families who do not comply with the obligation to send their children to school.
“We cannot tolerate – said Belcaro – that the right to study is denied to anyone. School is the main instrument of social redemption, growth and freedom. This Administration is firmly committed to ensuring that every child and every young person has the opportunity to build one’s future through education.”
The families receiving the warnings will have seven days to regularize the situation. In case of failure to comply, the criminal and administrative judicial process will be initiated which, in light of the recent Caivano decree, provides severe sanctions, which can go as far as arrest and suspension of inclusion income.
Councilor Belcaro also underlined the Administration’s more general commitment to deploying significant resources to combat school dropout and educational poverty: “We – he explained – joined and won all the regional and ministerial tenders available on this matter This will allow us to implement targeted and wide-ranging interventions. However, it is essential to reiterate that recovery is not possible without respecting the law. The right to education is an inalienable right and we cannot allow it to be trampled upon.”
Mayor Fiorita and the entire council, for their part, fully agree with the action taken and strongly reiterate that the school represents the main investment for the present and future of Catanzaro.
