On the day Rino Gaetano would have turned 75, October 29, 2025, the official trailer of “RINO GAETANO always bluer” arrives, the new film written by Giorgio Verdelli and Luca Rea, directed by Verdelli himself, in theaters only on November 24, 25 and 26.
Fifty years after But the sky is always bluer, the film – produced by SudOvest Produzioni and Indigo Film in collaboration with Rai Documentari, with the support of Fondazione Calabria Film Commission and distributed by Medusa Film -– Executive producer SudOvest Produzioni Silvia Fiorani, Rai producer Fabio Mancini, associate producer Indigo Film Stefano d’Avella, associate producer Gianvito Casadonte, associate producer Gianfranco Romano,
returns the rough, lucid and brilliant voice of an artist capable of describing the discomfort and beauty of his era with irony and poetry. A choral portrait built with unique materials – private notebooks, rare interviews, treasured memories and an unreleased song entitled Un Film a Colori – Jet Set (out digitally for Sony Music Italy).
In the story of “RINO GAETANO always bluer”, the story of the singer-songwriter born in Crotone, a mosaic of voices intertwines – from his sister Anna Gaetano to his nephew Alessandro, from lifelong friends such as Riccardo Cocciante, Danilo Rea, Giovanni Tommaso, Shel Shapiro, Edoardo De Angelis, Ernesto Bassignano, to spiritual heirs such as Brunori Sas, Lucio Corsi, Sergio Cammariere, Giordana Angi – reconstructs the man beyond the myth, the poet under the hat. And then there is Tommaso Labate, who aboard a Fiat 128 takes us back to the places of Rino’s Calabria, while the narration – entrusted to the voice of Peppe Lanzetta, and the intense timbres of Claudio Santamaria, Paolo Jannacci and Valeria Solarino – reveals a more intimate, universal Rino, deeply ours.
Between a sharp thought and a disarming laugh, between the interview with Enzo Siciliano, future president of Rai and three special lenses, those of Carlo Massarini, Andrea Scanzi and Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, Rino’s work is outlined beyond labels, caricatures and nostalgia.
The film will be in theaters on November 24, 25 and 26, but today, October 29 – to celebrate Rino’s 75th birthday – the public will be able to experience this poetic and visionary journey as a preview together with three special screenings:
