Messina celebrates Jubilee 2025 with an exhibition on papal basilicas

Messina is preparing to celebrate the Jubilee 2025 with a documentary and bibliographic exhibition dedicated to the papal basilicas. The inauguration of the exhibition, entitled “The papal basilicas in the photos, in period postcards and in photographic postcards”will be held on Sunday 9 March at 17:30 at the Eventi Salone of the “Giacomo Longo” Regional Library.

The initiative, sponsored by the “Rezza Pro Culture Et Culture Foundation” and by the “Tota Pulcra” Association, both led by Monsignor Jean-Marie Gervais, coadjutor prefect of the Basilica of San Pietro in the Vatican, wants to offer a journey between art, faith and society through the iconography of the Roman basilicas. The exhibition itinerary crosses the Rome and contemporary Rome, with photographic testimonies, vintage postcards and documents from Italian and European archives.

The exhibition is curated by the collector Marco Donato and will be introduced by the director of the library, Tommasa Siragusain the presence of institutional representatives and cultural authorities. In addition to the exhibition, there are two conference moments on 4 and 11 April, during which the exhibition catalog will be presented, enriched by a reasoned bibliography.

The entrance to the exhibition is free until April 30th And it represents an opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of papal basilicas, symbols of the path of faith and the Roman artistic heritage.
