Maria Fernanda Giovinazzi resigned as deputy mayor and moved to the opposition. With a long letter sent to the mayor Antonio Barberio, the now former municipal administrator justified the reasons for this decision which “arises from profound political, administrative and moral differences that have developed over the course of these years. From the beginning, however, I have perceived a climate of hostility and delegitimization towards me. Over the course of these years I have witnessed situations that I consider serious: difficult relationships with local businesses and professionals, questionable administrative choices, failure to respect the principle of rotation in positions and companies stretched to the bone to even refuse to work with the Municipality, inconvenience caused to citizens due to incomplete or poorly managed public works, as well as an often confusing and not very transparent administrative method”.

Councilor Giovinazzi then cites some cases, such as the story of “two professionals with fixed-term collaboration positions, combined with the choice to proceed with the renewal of positions for people outside our community and friends of the party. I consider it serious that young professionals from our country are being put aside”. Then, Giovinazzi speaks of these interns “humiliated, denigrated, to the point of not wanting to sign their attendance, again for reasons of politics, of non-sympathy. Five citizens of Scandale are at home due to a policy of wickedness”. And turning to the mayor he adds: “when I pointed out these things to you, the responses were always at the limit of decency. In these three years I have seen a way of doing politics that does not belong to me and that I do not share. A politics distant from the people, from the real needs of the community and too often oriented towards protecting party interests and political friendships, rather than valorising local skills and resources. Not to mention the municipal councils made without warning after a WhatsApp call without even knowing the subject of the same, not respecting the principles of transparency and democracy”
