The centre-left coalition led by Antonella Russo intervenes on the issue of the scrapping of municipal records, asking that the scrapping quinquies be urgently brought to the City Council to allow the city to join by the scheduled deadline of 30 June.
“This is an important measure – states the mayoral candidate Antonella Russo – which can represent concrete help for thousands of families, workers and economic activities in Messina who have experienced enormous economic difficulties in recent years. The possibility of defining one’s position with the Municipality through subsidized tools means giving breathing space to the real city and the local economy”.
During the public meeting at the electoral committee in via Ghibellina, the leader of the Democratic Party Felice Calabrò illustrated the work carried out in the city council. “There are documents already prepared to allow the Extraordinary Commissioner Mattei to proceed quickly towards the approval of the measure. The situation of the Municipality is disastrous from this point of view, as was left by the resigning Basile”.
Professor Giuseppe Ingrao, councilor designated for taxes for the centre-left coalition, delved into the technical and economic aspects of the scrapping: “The percentage of participation at a national level in the quinquies scrapping was around 20%. If this percentage were also guaranteed on the territory, we would be talking about a recovery of millions of euros for the coffers of the Municipality of Messina and a very important saving for the inhabitants too”.
According to the centre-left coalition, in fact, adhering to the plan could have an impact of several million euros on the organisation’s revenue, allowing on the one hand to recover resources that are difficult to collect and on the other to offer citizens a sustainable path to regularisation. “It is essential – continues Antonella Russo – that the City Council approves the resolution within the necessary time. Tuesday represents a decisive step: risking losing this opportunity would mean penalizing Messina and leaving without an answer those who today only ask for fairer conditions to comply”.
“We want to build a new relationship between the Municipality of Messina and the taxpayers, based on dialogue, collaboration and mutual trust. This must be the starting point of a new administrative culture, capable of overcoming the logic of opposition to open a season of constructive discussion and participation”, added the candidate of the centre-left coalition.
