This year too, Edizioni Beroe renewed its participation in the institutional stand of the Calabria Region by proposing two presentations in line with the slogan proposed by the Book Fair, “The world saved by kids”. For the occasion, the stories of two boys were proposed who in totally different ways demonstrate their love for their Calabrian roots. The first meeting saw the presence of the institutional delegation of the Municipality of Philadelphia which promoted the book “There, where everything began” by Fabio Bruno Pisciuneri who connected for the occasion from Crotone. The connection with Philadelphia was born from the desire to host a meeting with the author in the local community. Mayor Anna Bartucca underlined the importance of the message that the book wants to convey, namely the possibility of respecting one’s own life and that of others when driving.
Philadelphia’s Culture Councilor Veronica Gugliotta promoted the appeal so that not only young people but above all institutions can offer tools and resources to make Calabrian streets safer. The president of the Filaldelfia Library Mariarosa Anello underlined the importance of being able to find the Book Fair as a meeting center between the various Calabrian libraries, fundamental centers for the diffusion of culture in the local area. The novel There, where it all began which boasts the preface by the former Chief of the State Police Renato Cortese and the afterword signed by Giuseppa Cassaniti Mastrojeni, national president of AIFVS, was told by the author himself. Subsequently, Salvatore Franco spoke in person about his literary experience which led him to write the novel Il Ghiegghio e il wolf published through a tender from the Ministry of Culture. The conclusion of the meetings moderated by Simona Sorbara was entrusted to the publisher Renato Costa who wanted to underline the achievement of the first ten years of his publishing house. «When I think that ten years of my publishing activity have already passed I feel proud of my work and above all for having given my authors the opportunity to tell their story. This year, in line with the Book Fair, we told the stories of two boys, Marcello, whose tragic sacrifice inspired a road safety project with the renewal of the 106 jonica. While Antonio, with his curiosity and also thanks to his parents, grew up showing his love both for the landscape offered by the Pollino and for his Arbëreshë roots which have been expressed in the village of Firmo since 1500. Salvatore Franco’s book which, in addition to boasting the preface by Professor Diana Kastrati, Executive Director of the QSPA of Tirana and the collaboration with the Association of Official Guides of the Pollino National Park coordinated by Andrea Vacchiano, also presents a QR Code which allows you to listen to phrases and words in the original Arbëreshë language. With these two themes we proposed a journey that goes from Pollino to Crotone”
