The long weekend of June 2 promises to be under the best auspices for the Aeolian Islands, ready to record a record tourist influx for the period. The islands of Lipari, Vulcano and Salina are at the forefront, with attendance forecasts that follow the typical numbers of the average summer season, both on land and at sea. Stromboli deserves a separate discussion, a favorite destination for large groups of hikers attracted by the charm of the volcano which, among other things, since yesterday morning, has been generating a new lava flow which is located in the medium-high part of the Sciara del Fuoco and is clearly visible from the sea. For the archipelago this weekend will represent a very important test bed in view of the summer; a challenge to which accommodation facilities and restaurateurs respond by being ready to offer excellent services.
The transport machine is already under pressure: fast line vehicles have been fully booked for days. To cope with the extraordinary demand, at the request of the Aeolian Municipalities and with the authorization of the Sicilian Region, the Liberty Lines company has prepared a plan of extraordinary trips departing from Milazzo. Although the ferries will not travel fully loaded, their traffic is still well above seasonal averages. This strengthening of connections aims to guarantee maximum fluidity in transfers, minimizing inconvenience for residents and visitors at a time of very strong anthropic pressure.
What drives this boom in bookings, in addition to the indisputable beauty of the archipelago and the favorable weather conditions, is also the success of the recent territorial promotion campaign by Brand Eolie.
