In an interview with NC News’ “Meet the Press,” President Donald Trump said the two sides are “very close” to reaching an agreement, but he is currently seeking additional provisions and restrictions to ensure that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons in any way.
«We have a couple of points. They don’t even seem like crucial points. They admitted that they did not possess nuclear weapons. We had included a clause prohibiting the development of nuclear weapons. And everyone was very happy about it, except me,” underlined the head of the White House. Trump said he wanted an additional clause preventing Iran from purchasing or otherwise acquiring a nuclear weapon: “And I said, ‘Well, what if they don’t develop, but they buy, they acquire? I want to put the word ‘if they buy or acquire.’ You know, you have to include that, because it’s not development. So, they don’t have the right to develop or buy or acquire,” he continued.

Uranium stocks

Trump also pledged that Washington will recover and destroy Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium if the parties reach a deal, while warning that the United States will further weaken Iran’s capabilities and take the material by force if negotiations fail. «If we reach an agreement that makes us friendly, we will all go together. It will be our equipment. We will take it away and destroy it, whether it is on site or we take it elsewhere”, the US president declared regarding Iranian enriched uranium. Otherwise, he thundered, «if we don’t reach an agreement, we will eliminate them militarily in a very harsh way. And we’ll wait until we’ve done that before we leave, in which case we’ll be safe either way.”

The feeling with Netanyahu: “I only disagree with him on a couple of things”

President Donald Trump said he is on the same page with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite some disagreements over the offensive in Lebanon. “We get along very well,” Trump said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” in a pre-recorded interview that aired today, as the conflict in Iran entered its 100th day.
«We were great companions. We made a big mess with a certain country that did nothing but cause problems for 47 years. I disagree with him on a couple of things,” Trump said. Pressed on whether he opposed continued Israeli bombing of Lebanon, Trump said he would like to see a “more targeted attack against Hezbollah.” “We can help them with this, or we can recommend Syria,” he said, heaping praise on Syria’s new government.
