And in the end, a 16 point gap almost seems like a… large gap. Yes, because the Mandatoriccio case had caused a sensation after the May votes: 852 votes each for the mayoral candidates Vincenzo Iozzi and Maria Teresa Villella. Hence the need to entrust the final verdict to the ballot. Another head-to-head decided in the last of the three sections, in which the former municipal employee Iozzi took the lead (so to speak…) trailing Villella by 16 votes (913 to 897). This was enough to earn the tricolor armband.

The new council

As a result of Iozzi’s victory, the City Council will be composed as follows: for the majority in support of the elected mayor, Francesco A. Pugliese 148, Domenico Mangone 120, Luigi Capalbo 118, Leonardo Console 110, Valerio Zumpano 100, Lucrezia Manfredi 83, Saverio De Filippis 66 will enter the Council with their respective first round votes. For the minority, in addition to Villella, they will part of the Council Francesco Pio Mangone with 121 votes and Antonella Paletta 113. (ben.lep.)
