Great satisfaction for the fifth classes of the “Rodari” complex of the “Don Bosco – V. Tieri” comprehensive institute, who won the prestigious national award “A world of breakfasts”, promoted by Parmalat Educational.

The winning entry, entitled “Good morning from the world”, was awarded by the head of Parmalat Educational, Giulia Galli, who underlined the creativity and ability of the students to involve the jury through a journey dedicated to breakfast traditions in different countries around the world.

A journey between food and cultures

The children recounted morning habits and customs of various international realities, highlighting differences and points of contact between different cultures. A work that has managed to combine food education, intercultural knowledge and collaboration, transforming breakfast into an opportunity for learning and discussion.

A recognition that also rewards the work carried out by the institute led by the school director Laura Sisca, thanked for her constant support for educational initiatives and for the attention paid to educational innovation projects.

The lesson between science and nutrition

The day was enriched by the presence of Erika Cione, professor of Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Department of Pharmacy and Health and Nutrition Sciences of the University of Calabria. During his speech he illustrated to the children the role of microRNAs present in milk, explaining how these particular biological messengers contribute to the processes of regulating immune defenses.

This was followed by the science teacher of the lower secondary school Daniele Ferraro, who explored the chemical and nutritional aspects of milk, focusing on the importance of macro and micronutrients for the growth and well-being of the youngest.

A morning dedicated to knowledge and sharing which confirmed how school can transform a daily gesture, such as breakfast, into an educational opportunity capable of combining health, culture and active citizenship.
