There are 168 eligible candidates for the expression of interest announced by the Calabria Region to recruit EU and non-EU doctors to be assigned to health service bodies.
The notice was published last January and also open to European and foreign professionals specifically for the purpose of remedying staffing deficits.
There were a total of 257 applications to participate but there were 168 eligible profiles, we read in the resolution of Azienda Zero which takes note of the conclusion of the examining commission’s work.
The other professionals included in the lists
In addition to the 168 suitable profiles, there are 50 professionals already present in the Region’s lists, a further 17 with procedures suspended awaiting verification and finally 22 doctors still in specialist training.
The expression of interest makes use of specific national regulations which allow professionals with foreign qualifications to temporarily practice healthcare professions and social and healthcare workers.
The required specializations and assignments
Various medical specializations requested in the notice: pathological anatomy, anesthesia, intensive care resuscitation, cardiology, general surgery, geriatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, emergency medicine, internal medicine, paediatrics, orthopedics and traumatology, psychiatry, radiodiagnostics, radiology and urology.
Doctors will now be assigned to companies based on needs and ensuring priority to local ones with the aim – we read in the resolution – of ensuring “the needs for continuity of care and coverage of local services”.
