Chiara Pellacani is amazing. The Italian champion wins two diving golds on the same day at the European swimming championships in Paris, the third in this edition of the continental championship. The 24-year-old Roman won in the evening on the one-metre springboard; only two hours earlier he had dominated in the three-meter mixed synchro together with Matteo Santoro. And on Friday he had achieved gold in the mixed team event. She is, in these first days, the queen of Paris 2026: three golds in three days. In the individual competition the Italian athlete with a score of 298.90 preceded the Swiss Michelle Luisa Heimberg (258.80) and the British Desharne Bent-Ashmeil (254.35). Fifth was the other Italian in the race Elisa Pizzini who, thanks to a less than exceptional last dive, narrowly missed out on the podium.
Two hours earlier Pellacani had dominated in the three-meter mixed synchro. Together with Matteo Santoro, with whom she is world champion in the specialty, she finished with 305.85 points ahead of the pair of neutral athletes, the Russians Ilia Molchanov and Elizaveta Kuzina, (286.17) and the German one composed of Luis Carlo Avila Sanchez and Lena Corona Hentschel (284.19). A race, in which the Italians were the favourites, masterfully conducted from the first to the last dive. The triumphal day for the Italians also recorded silver in the technical mixed-artistic duo won by Filippo Pelati and Lucrezia Ruggiero: the two Italian athletes came within a whisker of gold, thanks to an exceptional race, with 229.0092 points, of which 130.1842 with the elements and 98.8250 for the artistic impression.
A result that makes the technical director Patrizia Giallombardo proud. Pelati and Ruggiero stopped 0.6691 points behind the British Isabelle Thorpe and Ranjuo Tomblin who won with 229.0092 thanks to two points more in difficulty coefficient. On the third step of the podium were the neutral athletes of Russia Alina Rumiantseva and Zakhar Trofimov who scored 215.9201 points. The world bronze pair in Singapore 2025 gets another medal around their necks after Saturday’s in the free duo and improves on the continental bronze in Funchal 2025. «I’m really satisfied – says Patrizia Giallombardo – Lucrezia and Filippo have outdone themselves. They were wonderful swimming a flawless exercise. I’m very happy. It’s just a shame that they have a slightly lower DD than the English, but they rode well and when the athletes swim well you can’t help but be happy and compliment them. They are growing and today they showed their potential; in fact yesterday’s bitterness was dictated by seeing that they hadn’t given 100% of what they know how to do. Today they succeeded. They are these.”
