A series of contracts under investigation. The Cosenza prosecutor’s office, led by Vincenzo Capomolla, requested the arrest of the mayor of Carolei, Francesco Iannucci (45 years old) and the assignment of the deputy mayor, Paolo Filice (66) to house detention; for the municipal employee, Francesco Iorio (62); the retired Francesco Porco (72); the official of the Calabria Region, Giovanni Ioele (52); the entrepreneurs Luigi Principe (63), operating in the water maintenance sector; Fracesco Pulice (61), owner of a private transport company, Andrea Forlino (54), head of a company engaged in cemetery maintenance services.
The suspects, who ended up at the center of the investigation conducted by the public prosecutor Antonio Tridico, will have to appear before the Bruzio investigating judge, Claudia Pingitore, next Monday. The investigating magistrate hypothesizes that the contracts relating to the maintenance of the water network, the municipal school transport, the custody and maintenance of the cemetery were “conditioned” to favor, from time to time, the owners of the companies whose assignment to house arrest is now being requested. For the mayor, however, custody in prison was requested by the prosecutor. Also at the center of the investigation is the alleged illegitimate use of a water source to supply municipal tanks. The suspects profess their innocence.
