Intercity is the Main Partner of the Taormina Film Festival, now in its 70th edition, scheduled from 12 to 19 July.
At platform 25 of the Roma Termini station, “A 70-year-long film” was presented: an Intercity train dedicated to the event, in the presence of the President of Trenitalia, Stefano Cuzzilla; the Director of Business Intercity, Domenico Scida; the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Taormina Arte Sicilia Foundation, Sergio Bonomo; the Councilor for Tourism, Sport and Entertainment of the Sicilian Region, Elvira Amata, and Chiara Francini, actress, writer and producer.
“We are proud to present this Intercity train dedicated to the Taormina Film Festival, one of the oldest film festivals in Italy. The bond between trains and cinema has ancient roots and, with this partnership, we further concretize Trenitalia’s commitment to supporting culture in all its forms, connecting territories and people to their passions”, declared Stefano Cuzzilla, President of Trenitalia.
The special Intercity train from Trenitalia, the parent company of the FS Group Passenger Hub, personalized with portraits of the most famous national and international actors and directors, will connect Rome and Sicily starting today, July 4, until September.
On board, the interiors of the carriages are decorated with additional shots and with the colors and graphics of the exhibition, creating an immersive experience for passengers. During the journey, the two semi-trains will separate when crossing the Strait of Messina, taking different directions with final destinations in Palermo and Syracuse, to spread the art of cinema as widely as possible. Currently, there are 4 Intercity Giorno and 6 Intercity Notte trains that arrive daily in Sicily, ensuring accessibility and territorial continuity.
Reaching Sicily with Intercity will give you the opportunity to benefit from a 10% reduction on the cost of the entrance ticket to the Taormina Film Festival and any event scheduled within the events programmed by the Taormina Arte Sicilia Foundation.
Through the partnership with the Taormina Film Festival, Trenitalia confirms itself as a company that connects people to their passions, such as cinema and culture, promoting a sustainable travel method to reach the Sicilian territory.
