A new meeting on the future of Abramo Customer Care workers was held this morning in Rome, at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy. A discussion table that marked significant progress towards a definitive solution, thanks to the collaboration between institutions, companies and trade unions.

The president of the Calabria Region, Roberto Occhiuto, gave an update on the state of the negotiations, highlighting the progress made in the twenty days since the last meeting. “We are now close to finalizing this complex operation – declared the governor –. The objective is that all 1000 operators involved can be hired by the first half of December”.

An innovative project for reskilling and digitalization

The Calabria Region played a central role in the affair, designing and financing a project for the reskilling of workers, who will be destined for the dematerialization of the medical records of Calabrian citizens. The regional investment of 15 million euros, enriched by a further 5 million allocated by the national government, has allowed the publication of over-the-counter notices to encourage the hiring of workers on redundancy or unemployed workers.

At the same time, the State Printing Institute is proceeding with the expression of interest to identify the companies that will carry out the project, the outcome of which is expected shortly. Among the main contenders are Poste Italiane and Tim, who could also receive the assignment jointly.

The role of companies: Konecta and Callmat at the forefront

Tim, present at the table as a company involved in the Abramo affair, announced its willingness to immediately start taking over a new supplier for the management of back office business activities. Following a competitive procedure, Tim has identified the Konecta Group as the partner responsible for managing this service.

FiberCop, however, confirmed the decision to entrust its orders to the Konecta Group, guaranteeing the maintenance of contractual conditions and the hiring of workers operating in Calabria and Sicily. Konecta, for its part, has expressed its desire to start a discussion with the trade unions in the next few days to proceed quickly with the inclusion of workers in the new operational perimeters. Furthermore, the company said it was ready to collaborate on dematerialisation activities, offering full availability to integrate Abramo Customer Care workers.

Callmat also expressed interest in the digitization of health records and reiterated its willingness to operate if it were assigned the service.

Next steps

The table will be updated in the next few days, after the State Printing Office has completed the tender procedures. “This is a crucial moment for the workers of Abramo Customer Care – underlined Occhiuto –. I want to thank all those involved for the determination and optimism shown. It is essential that the operations are concluded as soon as possible to give certainty to hundreds of families”.

In addition to the president of the Region, the meeting was attended by the vice president Filippo Pietropaolo, the councilor for Labor Giovanni Calabrese and the general directors Fortunato Varone (Labour), Tommaso Calabró (Health) and Maurizio Nicolai (United Programming).
