During the checks along the coast of competence, within the scope of the national operation “Sea and Safe Lakes 2024”, the military personnel of the Coast Guard of Trebisacce and Montegiordanounder the operational coordination of the Port Authority of Corigliano Calabro, at dawn last Sunday, August 4, have found illegal activity by the owner of a hospitality facility located in Torre di Albidona in the Municipality of Albidona (CS)who, without any concession title, had illegally occupied a stretch of free beach with beach equipment, unduly subjugating it to the use of its own customers.
In this regard, it seems appropriate to point out that the news is being released to guarantee the prerogatives of information and in compliance with the rights of the person under investigation, who must still be considered subject to the presumption of innocence, given the current stage of the proceedings, whose criminal responsibilities can only be ascertained through a sentence that has become irrevocable.

The military personnel of the local maritime office of Trebisacce and of the Montegiordano beach delegation, after having ascertained the illegality and seized dozens of beach umbrellas with their bases and sunbeds, proceeded to clear the stretch of beach affected by the abuse in question, which extended for approximately 800 square metersreporting the person responsible for the violation to the judicial authorities.

The military action stems from careful control activity on the territory and administrative checks, as well as from the acquisition of data and news also on the web, through the monitoring of the major platforms for the management and booking of tourist services, through some of which the aforementioned accommodation facility made available to its customers a “private beach”, which in reality was not, being a free beach illegally occupied.
Judicial police activities of this type aim to target illegal occupations of public property: conduct carried out in contempt of the law that hinders the free use of free beaches by citizens and, at the same time, constitutes damage to the State Treasury due to the lack of revenue from fees that would be due.
Checks on beaches and at bathing establishments located in the area will continue throughout the summer season, in order to guarantee the safety of beach users, the orderly conduct of recreational and productive activities and, as in this case, the protection of free access and use of free beaches.
