Giampilieri, the first edition of Accussì “Festival for the eyes”, dedicated to independent cinema, is underway

The Cultural Association “Yes, yes” she is ready to leave with her first “Festival for the Eyes”, Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd Augustin the square of the Church of San Nicola in Giampilieri. According to the president of the Association, Donatella Manganaro, “Accussì will be the opportunity to start a project to support the territory that starts from independent cinema and that in the near future could lead to the most varied forms of visual art, from sculpture to painting, from dance to acting”. “Accussì – Festival per gli Occhi” is the first short film festival entirely organized in Giampilieri, as well as an attempt to contribute to the rebirth of a territory that became sadly notorious after the flood of 2009 and that today experiences problems common to realities like this: one above all, depopulation and the consequent shortage of resources and opportunities for those who instead choose to stay. The project, carried forward by the three founders of the Association Donatella Manganaro, Marco Minutoli and Antonio Micali, has obtained the support of “Caronte & Tourist”, as well as the free support of numerous partners including the Association Giampilieri 2.0active in the area since 2017 and “Short of Evening”Short Film Festival that will start its thirteenth edition from August 5th in the churchyard of the Church of Badìa di Croce in Itala Superiore. Three categories in competition: “The Whole World in the Country”awarded by a quality jury; “Little Kids”awarded by a jury “Kids”under 18; “Du Paisi”awarded directly by the public. For the “Picciriddi” Category (whose shorts will be screened on Thursday 1st August), the jury will be composed exclusively of young people “under 18” residing in the area; for the “Tutto Il Mondo in Paese” Category (whose shorts will be screened on Friday 2nd August) among the members of the quality jury there will be the Councilor for Youth Policies Liana Cannatathe journalist and videomaker Matthew Arrigo, Maria Grazia The Fauci (curator of the artist residency “La Trinacria Theatre Company” of Pezzolo) and Angela Grasso (local resident, passionate about cinema, selected directly by the event organization). Finally, regarding the “Du Paisi” category, the shorts will be screened between Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd August and the voting will take place on site by the public using a form provided by the same organization.
