Massimiliano Alvini counts the days of his rossoblù militancy. In the press conference to present the next match, the coach from Sila said that he was increasingly convinced of the goodness of the choice made in the summer, when he chose to take over William Viali’s bench. They have been three very intense months for the coach from Fucecchio, who has been forced to live with a four-point penalty for a month. A cleaver that doesn’t seem to scare him at all. «We rose in the standings and before Palermo we found ourselves at zero again. Now we have started again, we must know how to face reality. We have been able to make good progress thus far, we must continue it. The ratings were influenced by the match against Sudtirol. I don’t doubt it, it was a bad performance but the group deserved the trust because they didn’t deserve to lose against Sassuolo and Mantova. During a route, it is inevitable to have some empty passages. Cosenza is not in crisis, let’s look forward. We are ready to start again to achieve the goal.”
The Tuscan is a composed type, he never loses his aplomb. He only gets agitated during the ninety minutes or more of matches, when he gives the impression of wanting to radio control his team with continuous instructions from the sidelines. He doesn’t falter even when the questions get edgierin a period of great difficulty. «Cittadella is a stable and strong club. This contributes to living peacefully. Guarascio, however, has given us some reassurances and allows us to work well. I talked to him. I chose Cosenza to contribute to the growth of the club. We must think about salvation, reach it all together, remaining cohesive, after which we will commit ourselves to taking a further step. The team is aligned, I want to all give my best for the cause.”
The Citadel is injured. During the break, after the 6-1 defeat against Sassuolo, he changed coach: «We will have a few more dangers for this reason but I think we will face a team with an already acquired identity. We will adapt to the needs of the match, aware that we have a very strong opponent up front, used to doing well in Serie B.”
The positive statistics so far have not been enough to get off the ground: «We are aware that we have excellent numbers in terms of shots, “xG” (expected goals: ndc) and defensive actions – he begins with a smile – but evidently we have to add quality and be more concrete».
Finally, on the motivations of his group: «They all train hard. I have an obligation to let eleven of them play. Four take over from the bench. We are forced to make choices in every match but based on how they respond to stimuli, I would let them play all 25. I have great respect and trust in the quality of my players”, he concluded by giving a symbolic pat on the shoulder to D’Orazio and his teammates.
