The Carabinieri of Taormina have reported an agricultural entrepreneur in a state of freedom, held responsible for “unauthorized waste management activities”.
The man was caught in the act of disposing of the olive pressing liquid in an uncontrolled way, spilling the material directly onto land he owned, without carrying out any preventive filtering of the liquid coming from a tank.
Further investigations then made it possible to ascertain that the company in question was not registered in the register of environmental managers and therefore the means used to transport the aforementioned waste was not authorised.
For these reasons, the military proceeded to seize the vehicle and the land where processing residues had been spilled.
