The agents of the Reggio Calabria Flying Squad, in collaboration with their colleagues from Messina, arrested a man originally from the Peloritana city. The man is accused of aggravated robbery and illegal possession and carrying of a firearm in a public place open to the public. The facts date back to Saturday 14 September last night, the main evening of the Marian holidays, and would have been committed against the commercial activity «All’anima ru pollu bis», located in Via Santa Caterina in the Calabrian city of the Strait.
The man, with violence and threats towards the owner and a customer present inside the business, holding a semi-automatic pistol, had had all the day’s takings handed over to him.
Through the analysis of images from numerous city video surveillance systems, it emerged that he had planned the robbery in detail, arriving in the city center already in the morning, finding accommodation in a hospitality business which he used as a base to carry out various inspectionsas well as to partially change his clothes and hide the license plate of the motorcycle on which he went to the premises to commit the crime, with the aim of making it difficult for the police to recognize him in the immediately following phases, as well as evading the subsequent investigations aimed at his identification.
