Among the planned interventions, the project “Safe hospital“With the value of approximately 4.5 million euros, which focuses on the safety and seismic adaptation of the hospital. In addition, a new intensive care will be carried out for a value of 5 million euros and the completion of the provisional emergency room for about 2.1 million euros, all financed through PNRR funds and to be completed by March 2026. An investment of 150 thousand euros is also provided for the construction of a company car park, financed by Provincial.
To allow the continuity of health services during the works, other areas of the hospital will be used in Milazzo, while some departments and services will be temporarily transferred to Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto.

During the operational meeting held at the Fogliani hospital in Milazzo, the general manager of the ASP, Giuseppe Cuccì, said: “We are engaged in a modernization and enhancement project of our hospital structure, which represents a crucial step to provide a safer and more efficient environment for both our patients and for staff. These works, financed by PNRR and ASP, demonstrate our commitment to guarantee quality health care, even in complex circumstances“.
Cuccì added: “During the execution of the works, we will face many challenges, but we will make sure that the essential services are maintained, minimizing the interruptions for our patients. The ‘safe hospital’ project is particularly important, since it implies a significant improvement in our response skills in case of seismic events and other emergencies.”
Finally, he underlined: “We are determined to complete the early stages of this intervention by 31 December 2025 and it will be possible to divide this first intervention by safe hospital in four to do. Our priority remains the protection and well -being of patients who rely on the care of the Milazzo hospital.”
