Good first for Alexander Zverev at the ATP Finals. The German, number 3 in the world, beat the American Ben Shelton (n.6 ATP) in two sets with a score of 6-3 7-6(6), achieving his first victory in the Bjorn Borg Group, the same group as Jannik Sinner, who will take to the court tomorrow evening against Felix Auger-Aliassime. First set without history between Zverev and Shelton. Solid on serve, with only one ’15’ granted to his rival, the German scores the break in the fifth game and closes the first period at 6-3, breaking the serve again on the second useful opportunity. The second set was more balanced. Shelton erases two break points in the fourth game, but fails to raise his level in response. We go to the tie break: the American goes up to 6-3, but Zverev comes back, cancels three set points and closes at 8-6.
