Daniil Medvedev is in the final of the Australian Open and will compete in the on Sunday Jannik Sinner the first Slam of the season. The Russian, n.3 in the ranking, beat the German Alexander Zverev (n.6) in five sets in the semifinal, with a score of 5-7, 3-6-, 7-6(7/4), 7- 6(7/5), 6-3. Medvedev, in the final in Melbourne for the third time, will try to win a second Grand Slam title after the 2021 US Open. On the first two occasions he was beaten by Djokovic in 2021 and by Nadal the following year. Ahead by two sets, Zverev let himself be caught up and ended up giving in after 4h19′ of play. Medvedev also risked being knocked out when he committed a double fault in the decisive game of the fourth set, allowing the German to be two points away from his first final in Melbourne. It is the second time since the start of the tournament that the 27-year-old Muscovite has come back from two sets down, after the victory in the second round against the Finn Emil Ruusuvuori 3-6, 6-7 (1 /7), 6-4, 7-6 (7/1), 6-0.
