Autonomy and Anci Calabria, the mayors “split”: five will not participate in the works

“Since the week that was supposed to be used to find a synthesis for a unitary document of the Anci on differentiated autonomy has passed without success, we consider our participation in the Council convened by President Succurro to be useless. Which, moreover, in violation of a commitment he had made in Lorica, he did not intend to consult the mayors who promoted the “UnasolaItalia” appeal. Thus the mayors of Catanzaro, Cosenza, Crotone, Reggio Calabria and Vibo Valentia, Fiorita, Caruso, Voce, Falcomatà and Romeo

“It is clear – they continue – that the Calabrese ANCI has no intention of asking for a referendum to repeal the Calderoli law. President Succurro’s proposal to establish an observatory on differentiated autonomy is practically a photocopy of Forza Italia’s proposal. An elegant way of not taking a position and still allowing the implementation of the reform. Never in its history had the Calabrese Anci bowed so much to the Regional and national power. It saddens us to note that the Calabrese Anci does not take into account the position of 130 mayors, including all those of the provincial capitals and major cities, representing a million Calabrese citizens. We go our own way and continue our battle. This is not the time for low-ball mediations or delaying tactics.. Fortunately, the Regions of Sardinia, Campania, Puglia, Emilia Romagna and Tuscany have thought of asking for a referendum and if this is not enough we will collect half a million signatures. Anci Calabria should remain on the sidelines and turn its back on the Calabrian people”.
