A terrible day for the Calabrian Jonica, marked by new traffic problems. In Bivongi, during the night, provincial road 95 in the Acqua Calda district collapsed, where a chasm opened up which made the closure to traffic inevitable.
The subsidence has isolated the Ionian center on the southern side: to reach State Road 106 it is now necessary to extend the route passing through Stilo. What prevented more serious consequences was the alarm raised by a motorist who, upon returning home, noticed the collapse and alerted the authorities.
The municipal administration intervened immediately to make the area safe. Mayor Grazia Zaffino made an appeal to the metropolitan city, asking for structural and definitive interventions, recalling how the same stretch of road had already been affected by a landslide just a year ago.
