The bad predictions of the day before have come true. The bad weather that is also raging in the Strait area prevents the opening of the 53 houses of the Messina Street food fest for today. The restart, weather permitting, should take place tomorrow, Sunday 20 October, continuously. The organization, in fact, reserves the right to decide on the matter today
The event
Until 10pm last night there were many people from Messina who literally stormed the 53 houses, until the rain was incessant and the square was emptied. In the morning and a good part of the evening, stock up on tokens to taste the specialties offered, capable of ranging from international to local, also touching on those “sacred monsters” such as fried pizza, bread with meusa, the classic Neapolitan omelette or burritos of black angus. Dishes that are not part of the Messina culinary tradition, but made by companies in our city who thus acquire the necessary feedback also to propose further innovations in the area.
Solidarity show cooking (proceeded for Airc, Cirs Casa Famiglia and Mensa di Sant’Antonio) all with Sicilian colours: Elia Russochef of the “Dodici Fontane di Villa Neri Resort & Spa” restaurant in Linguaglossa (province of Catania), presented a risotto with Nerello mascalese, combined with buffalo ricotta granita, caper powder and candied capers” from Mario Cortese of “Tenuta Anasita” of San Filippo del Mela. At 9pm, however, the first starred chef of “Messina Street Fish”, Giuseppe Causaranoone Michelin star from the “Vota Vota” restaurant in Ragusa. For him, the red mullet and tomato accompanied by the “Tramonto rosso” sorbet from the master ice cream maker from Messina Giuseppe Arena. Wine pairings curated by “Tenuta Rasocolmo”.
Musical moments given by DJ sets Jose DJ And Santino Villari and the band’s live performance “The solution”. Also on stage was the entire cast of “MessinTavola”, the engaging RTP cooking show won by Roberto Antonuccio who on Sunday at 7pm will have the opportunity to cook together with the chef Giuseppe Geraci during the show cooking.
The other closures
Through an ordinance from the Municipality, for today, the closure of villas, cemeteries and sports facilities has been ordered, as well as the suspension of outdoor events.
