Boarding tax on flights to Calabria, Lotito’s proposal: the State will pay it

The municipal surcharge on boarding fees has been abolished in Calabria from summer 2024. And the Region has to reimburse, for the lost revenue, the municipal administrations of Lamezia Terme, Reggio Calabria and Crotone which host the three active airports in their territory. This does not mean, however, that the system is destined to remain unchanged. Forza Italia senator, Claudio Lotito – no stranger to legislative initiatives that closely concern this territory – signed an amendment to the Maneuver, included among his party’s “reports”, to guarantee this special exemption. The blue parliamentarian asks that the Citadel no longer pays but the State through a total allocation of 30 million euros, 10 million per year over the next three years.
