A three-year-old Palestinian boy was killed by Israeli troops in the al-Mawasi area of southern Gaza, near the town of Khan Younis. The attack occurred outside the Israeli army’s deployment areas in southern Gaza, sources at the Nasser Medical Complex told Al Jazeera.

Located along the coast of Gaza, near the southern city of Khan Younis, al-Mawasi is home to a vast refugee camp that houses tens of thousands of Palestinians living in poverty, Al-Jazeera recalls. Despite the continuous deadly attacks, the Arab newspaper continues, Israel has described the area as a “humanitarian security zone”. The victim was a 3-year-old boy named Iyad Ahmed Naeem al-Rabai, Wafa news agency reported. He was killed when Israeli gunboats shelled tents housing displaced people in al-Mawasi. Since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025, Israel has killed more than 500 Palestinians in Gaza and wounded 1,400 others, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
