Catanzaro, capital of Afam: the national conference on artistic research at the Politeama on Tuesday and Wednesday

Get to the heart of it “Ecosystems of Sensitive Knowledge. New horizons of AFAM”the great national conference promoted by the Academy of Fine Arts of Catanzaro and hosted on 10 and 11 December at the Politeama Theatre. After the strong interest aroused by the announcement of the initiative, the Academy is now releasing the complete program of the two days, which will see the participation of the main protagonists of Italian artistic education, the university world and institutions.

The event will open on Tuesday 10 December at 10.30 am with institutional greetings from the director of the ABA, Virgilio Piccari, the president Stefania Mancuso and the mayor Nicola Fiorita. This will be followed by a greeting from the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, who will speak via video conference, bringing the Ministry’s attention to the work carried out by the Academy and the prospects of the Afam sector.

The first session, dedicated to research policies and system perspectives, will be introduced and moderated by Simona Caramia and will see interventions by the Mur directors Michele Mazzola and Francesca Romana Ciangola, the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Catanzaro Donatella Monteverdi, the rector of the Magna Graecia University Giovanni Cuda and the representatives of the national conferences of the Academies and Conservatories. In the afternoon the second session will be entirely dedicated to internationalization and competitive projects, with speakers from Sassari, Rome, Catanzaro and Naples, including the president of the Cnam (National Council for Higher Artistic and Musical Education) Giovanna Cassese.

The second day will open on Wednesday 11 December at 10.00 am with greetings from Maria Alessandra Gallone, Deputy Advisor to the Minister for higher artistic and musical education. The morning session, introduced by Fabio Dell’Aversana, will see alternating interventions by the directors of the Academies and Conservatories of Bologna, Castelfranco Veneto, Bergamo, Sassari, Messina, Reggio Calabria, as well as the contribution of the Vice Rector for research of the University of Calabria.

In the afternoon the work will continue with a session dedicated to project experiences and national and international collaboration networks, with scholars and teachers from Ravenna, Naples, Vibo Valentia, Reggio Calabria, Bologna, Potenza, Turin and Rome.

With over thirty speakers, the conference confirms the role of the Academy of Fine Arts of Catanzaro as a point of reference in the debate on artistic education and the trajectories of contemporary research, strengthening the centrality of the Calabrian capital in the Italian cultural panorama.
