No to extemporaneous attempts, yes to a broad and organic planning to give a future to Parco Romani. The deputy mayor with responsibility for Territorial Planning made this clear in the last City Council Giusy Iemmain indicating the guidelines for future interventions on the large unfinished project in the Sala district.
The mega building that was supposed to become a business and commercial center but instead turned into an emblem of degradation amid administrative disputes and legal proceedings remains in the background of the political debate. For years it disappeared from the radar, even if the receivership and the many private individuals who bought the commercial premises at the time kept the flame alight. Parco Romani has now been included in the urban regeneration envisaged by the preliminary document of the Municipal Structural Plan currently being developed. An essential step to frame, in the meantime, the property and therefore try to identify a intended use and, above all, the resources to revive it and put it in a position to play a role in the territory. For this reason, a technical political table was set up in 2023 – which also includes representatives of small owners and which should meet again in the next few days – aimed precisely at drawing up a series of possible perspectives and evaluating their feasibility. Precisely in order to identify the most concrete path without flights of fancy, Iemma has been keen in recent days to point out the importance of identifying the intended use, preparing a serious project without proceeding by trial and error and identifying the resources.
