Security services strengthened throughout the province of Catanzaro in view of the Christmas holidays and the great Rai New Year’s event “The Year to Come”, scheduled on the Catanzaro Lido seafront. The plan was defined in the provincial committee for public order and safety chaired by the prefect Castrese De Rosa, with the coordination of the police commissioner Giuseppe Linares.
More checks during the holidays
An increase in patrols and personnel on the streets is expected throughout the holiday period, especially in the areas with the greatest influx and in the most sensitive time slots. Controls on road traffic have been strengthened, against predatory crimes, drug dealing, illegal commercial activity and the use of illegal fireworks, with particular attention to the sale of prohibited “barrels” and the supply of alcohol to minors.
The device for Rai New Year’s Eve
A dedicated safety device is planned for the evening of December 31st. The concert area, in the Teti area, will be delimited and accessible only through controlled gates, with sectors with regulated capacity for a maximum of approximately 9,500 people. There will be checks at the gates, separate paths for inflow and outflow and a ban on introducing dangerous objects.
Over 300 operators including State Police, Carabinieri, Financial Police, Local Police, Civil Protection, firefighters, healthcare personnel and private security, with the support of dog units and bomb disposal squads, were in the field.
Healthcare, traffic and appeal to citizens
The healthcare system has been strengthened with the strengthening of emergency rooms and the presence of ambulances and first aid stations in the show area. The Municipality has prepared an extraordinary traffic plan with closed roads, interchange parking and free shuttles.
The authorities invite citizens to cooperate, respect the instructions of the police, use public transport and observe the ordinances on alcohol consumption. Everyone’s collaboration is considered essential to guarantee a safe and peaceful New Year.
