There is apprehension in Catanzaro over the situation involving two students from Catanzaro, currently in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, where they are participating in the FSL (formerly PCTO) diplomatic simulation project “Ambassadors of the Future”, promoted by the WSC Italia association. Among them is Vittoria, a student at the classical high school attached to the “P. Galluppi” National Boarding School.

Following developments in the ongoing conflict in the region, with the consequent closure of airspace and repercussions on international flights and connections, the two girls – together with around 200 other Italian students involved in the program – currently find themselves unable to return to Italy as planned.

The Rector-Headmaster Stefania Cinzia Scozzafava, together with the teaching staff and all the staff of the institute, is following the evolution of the situation with attention and concern, expressing full solidarity and closeness to the families of the two students, aware of the anguish that these hours are generating. The school activated contacts with the local authorities, in particular with the mayor and the prefect, who immediately mobilized to monitor the matter and offer every possible form of support. At the same time, we look with confidence at the work of the Italian institutions and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, committed through the Farnesina to guarantee the safety and repatriation of the compatriots involved.

There is also a direct message to young Vittoria: the entire school community is ideally beside her and awaits her return with affection. The training experience undertaken, although marked by unpredictable events, represents – underlines the management – a testimony of courage, maturity and passion for dialogue and diplomacy, values that the institute has always promoted.

The shared hope is that the situation can stabilize as soon as possible, allowing the safe return of the students and all the boys involved. In the meantime, the school calls on the entire community – students, faculty, staff and families – to maintain composure and trust in the institutions.
