Another red-flagged day on the roads and highways for the summer counter-exodus. Since this morning a long queue of cars formed at the ferry docks in Messina. Over two hours of waiting to board ships departing from Rada San Francesco. There are eight ferries of the private shipping company in operation at the pier on Viale della Liberta and another four ferries of the Railways departing from the historic port. They are continuously loading and unloading vehicles. The queue of returning holidaymakers’ cars, always on the move, has filled Viale della Libertà since the morning, reaching Viale Boccetta, from where cars continuously arrive from the motorway junction. Viale Giostra, from where vehicles arrive from the junction, is also very busy. The key intersections along the route planned for departing cars are patrolled by the municipal police as part of the traffic plan for the counter-exodus.
