The case of the pruning of a tree by workers from Verdidea, the company responsible for the maintenance of public greenery, inside a condominium area in Pontepiccolo, is anything but a storm in a teacup.
In the Supervisory and Control Commission, meeting in the council room of Palazzo De Nobili, yesterday the requests for the resignation of the director for the execution of the contract (dec) and for the revocation of the assignment of the sole person responsible for the procedure (rup) by the councilors of the body rained down. And in the majority different sensitivities were revealed – between votes in favor, abstentions and reservations – regarding the request for measures advanced by the opposition councilors Antonio Corsi and Sergio Costanzo.
The issue discussed in the body chaired by Stephen Veraldi was raised in recent weeks by Corsi and Costanzo. In essence, the pruning took place in a private area, therefore, they pointed out, Verdidea could not have carried it out. Nor was the justification that emerged during the hearing, and written down in a report, that it would have been a safety intervention since some branches were protruding over suspended electrical cables of the nearby public lighting accepted. Indeed, it was pointed out, this would have also put the life of the person who carried out the cutting in danger, while in a case like that the intervention of the fire brigade should have been requested.
