As many as 18 municipalities in the Lamezia area, starting from Lamezia itself, have resolved, between councils and municipal councils, a request to strengthen the Emergency Medical Urgency Service (SUEM) 118, «not a mere complaint or a protest – specified the municipal councilor Giancarlo Nicotera in a press conference – but a request made directly to President Occhiuto in his role as Commissioner ad acta for health, a request made with a spirit of sharing, given that 18 administrations outside beyond political color and unanimously came forward in presenting it.” Nicotera, who acted as direct spokesperson for the municipality of Lamezia for the motion presented in the municipal council, explains it bluntly: «today we feel completely exposed, despite the enormous efforts of the health workers, we ask for very particular attention on the issue, the data today speak of only 4 ambulances with a single doctor in Falerna, four in Lamezia, two in Soveria, on paper we need 24 doctors and we only have 7».
