Cosenza doesn’t break the spell of the “Marulla”: Mazzocchi responds to Cotali

Another little point that adds to the ranking and morale. The winning move is still missing to enforce the “Marulla” law, but Cosenza is still nibbling ground and keeps Modena close to them who, for most of the match, remained ahead and managed to secure the three points. Both before and after Cotali’s goal, also thanks to the expulsion of Defrel, who has a couple of goals on his back (a sensational one into an empty net at the end of the first half), the rossoblù create a lot (Strizzolo’s post is the (emblem of a lively first half, because the Canaries also push and risk hurting their opponents). In the second half, a spectacular turn by Mazzocchi puts the match back on equal footing. The final forcing was not enough for the “wolves”, who, albeit with some regret, had to settle for a draw. A great match for sure.

-In the 7th minute Strizzolo hits the post with a volley that brings applause following an action triggered by Ricci and blocked by the Modena defence.

-Mazzocchi, in the 12th minute, shoots from distance and challenges Gagno. On the counterattack Caso flies towards the goal alone and is regularly tackled by Martino almost face to face with Micai.

-Modena also comes close to scoring (in the 21st minute) with Defrel who, a few steps from the rossoblù goalkeeper, takes a safe shot but finds Dalle Mura ready to deflect it for a corner. The dress rehearsal of the advantage

-Two minutes later, however, the Canaries took the lead with an insertion by Cotali who entered centrally and beat Micai undisturbed on Defrel’s cross.

-In the 26th minute great play by Florenzi who, after a turn, shoots with precision from outside the area and grazes the post to Gagno’s left.

-Cosenza loses too many balls in midfield and Modena goes to great lengths on the counterattack: Caso, in the 32nd minute, graces his former team by kicking from a good position and just missing the target.

-In the 34th minute, a very inspired Florenzi tries again from outside the area and shoots with power but finds the gloves of the Modena goalkeeper who blocks in two stages.

-Five minutes later Santoro reaches the conclusion but Micai is attentive.

– Sensational goal devoured by Defrel in full injury time: with an empty net he shoots high over the crossbar.

In the second half Rizzo Pinna and Ciervo came on instead of Ricci and Strizzolo.

-In the fifth minute Martino serves Ricciardi who diagonally grazes the post.

-Four minutes later Dalle Mura is too light in the disengagement and Modena triggers yet another restart with Defrel who kicks with confidence and finds the wall raised by Micai.

-Possible turning point in the 14th minute: Defrel comes in significantly late on a sliding Kouan and the referee sends him off.

-Florenzi, following a corner, comes close to hitting the post in the 28th minute.

-In the 35th minute Mazzocchi coolly turns Gagno on a perfect cross from Rizzo Pinna.

-Modena, even with ten men, does not give up and sensationally comes close to overtaking with yet another insertion: Cauz doesn’t find the goal.

-The usual Florenzi shoots from far away and challenges Gagno.
