Cosenza’s back pack is ready to welcome Michele Camporese back on a permanent basis (contract until June 2025).
Roberto Gemmi launched an assault on the Tuscan central defender, already at the foot of the Sila between January and June 2022, after two failed attempts in as many summer transfer sessions.
The Neapolitan sporting director, in fact, had already tried to keep him a year and a half ago when, at the end of his loan with the rossoblù, the defender returned to Pordenone. However, on that occasion the defender preferred Reggina’s three-year proposal. Following the revocation of the national amaranth license a few months ago, his name emerged as an option to strengthen the rearguard. His return, however, also vanished in this case because the proposal from Feralpisalò with which he signed a contract until 30 June 2025 prevailed.
The player, a few months later, is leaving the Lombard club and this time Gemmi is ready to launch the decisive assault to win the performances of the central defender born in Tirrenia. The negotiation has reached an advanced stage and, if no last-minute impediments arise, Camporese will contribute to increasing the level of experience in the defensive department of Fabio Caserta’s team.
In the current championship, the defender who grew up in Fiorentina’s youth sector has only played two matches – both as starters – between the end of November and the beginning of December, against Como and Cittadella.
Gemmi is also giving priority to the entry of a left back: he deals with Gianluca Frabotta, who is leaving Bari, a club where he has found little space in recent months. The left-footed winger owned by Juventus is also of interest to other clubs. In recent days there has been talk of an attempt by Sampdoria, a team that would include Andrea Pirlo, the coach who launched him in the black and white. Cosenza tries to attack.
On the second day of training, Andrea Meroni spoke through the official channels of the Bruzio club. The next one, against Cremonese, will be a special match for the Lombard centre-back who achieved promotion to the top flight with the Grigiorossi two seasons ago but found little space.
The defender is confident ahead of the match against Stroppa’s team: «It’s a very complicated opponent but in the first match we showed that we can play it openly and we want to do the same now. We are focused on this challenge to complete a good return round. The break came at the right time. We’ve been held back by a bit of bad luck up to this point. The poles have weighed but do not represent an alibi. Now I am convinced that there will be a reverse of the situation. Being optimistic is essential. Everyone has moments of difficulty in the Serie B tournament. Cosenza can do more but we have to work hard, overcoming our limits. Great determination will be needed because, when we take stock, even a single point can be decisive.”
