New judicial storm over the Municipality of Savelli, now under a commissionership after the resignation of the majority of councilors following the collapse. This time, 5 former councilors ended up in the sights of the Crotone Prosecutor’s Office, accused of having pocketed higher allowances than those established and on the other the former financial sector official who allegedly diverted the body’s sums in favor of the then administrators.
The register of suspects includes: Vincenzo Anania (74 years old), councilor from 2018 to 2020 and former commander of the local police until 2012; Tommaso Frigoli, 47 years old, councilor from 2023 to 2025 and current carabiniere at the San Giovanni in Fiore station; Bruno Vittorio Caligiuri (73 years old) councilor from 2018 to 2023; Letizia Grazia Barbato (31), councilor from 2020 to 2023; Antonio Cerminara (44) deputy mayor from 2023 to 2025; and Michele Giudicissi (65 years old), head of the financial area of the Municipality of Savelli, from 2008 to 2023.
For Anania, Frigoli, Caligiuri, Barbato and Cerminara, prosecutor Rosaria Multari had requested house arrest. But the investigating judge Assunta Palumbo, following preliminary interrogations, ordered the measure of residence ban in Savelli only for Anania. While for the other 4 the arrest was rejected due to lack of precautionary requirements as also objected by the defense. At the same time, the judge ordered a seizure of assets for over 50 thousand euros corresponding to the sums misappropriated. Ananias must answer for extortion (crime excluded by the investigating judge), embezzlement and forgery; in Caligiuri, Barbato, Cerminara and Frigoli and Giudicissi they are accused of embezzlement and forgery.
The investigations conducted by the Carabinieri derive from the investigation into the shortfall of approximately 3 million euros from the Municipalities of Savelli, Pallagorio and Cirò Marina from 2013 to 2023 through Giudicissi’s alleged false bank transfers. And from there the file involving the 5 former councilors and the former official took shape. Anania is accused of having received – between 2019 and 2022 – 36,166.32 euros not due thanks to 26 payment orders issued by Giudicissi, some of which addressed to the former councilor’s “Agapè” coop. Frigoli would have illicitly confiscated 1,611.85 euros in 2023; Caligiuri as much as 14,048.375 euros from 2019 to 2023; Barbato 5,759 euros in the years 2020-2023; and Cerminara 1,824.628 euros in 2023. Reconstruction rejected by the suspects. The lawyers Vincenzo Cardone and Fabrizio Pontieri, who defend Caligiuri, Cerminara and Barbato, during the preliminary interrogation tried to demonstrate the unawareness of their clients in collecting the increased sums. Anania and Frigoli are defended by lawyers Mario Germinara and Nicola Rendace; Judged by the lawyer Luigi Alboccino.
