Create a guarantee fund for businesses that have suffered damage from Cyclone Harry to allow them to get back on their feet and face the upcoming summer season. This is one of the proposals put forward by the CNA Calabria, represented by the Regional Secretary Giulio Valente, during the videoconference with the Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanché, which was also attended by the presidents of the Calabria Region Roberto Occhiuto and Sicily Renato Schifani with their respective councilors for Tourism and the Environment, the Councilor for Tourism of the Sardinia Region Franco Cuccureddu, and the main trade associations of the tourism sector.

The CNA National Bathers Manager, Cristiano Tomei, also took part in the meeting.

CNA showed appreciation for the discussion and underlined the serious difficulties faced by several artisan businesses whose activities were destroyed by the fury of water and wind, as well as by violent storms.

At present, entrepreneurs to whom the storms have caused damage to production structures, artisan workshops and tourist activities cannot access insurance compensation, explained Secretary Valente, reporting the political line of President Giovanni Cugliari. In fact, storm surges are not covered in catastrophe policies. A gap that appears even more serious in light of the mandatory nature of the policies, presented as a protection tool for the national economic fabric, as reported in recent weeks.

For the CNA, an intervention by the government is necessary which is also a demonstration of the validity of the insurance obligation. Companies located along coastal areas cannot be obligated to the policy, but be excluded from reimbursements.
