James Van Der Beek, famous after starring in the series ‘Dawson’s Creek’, suffers from colorectal cancer. The 47-year-old actor revealed this in an interview with People magazine, while still saying he was optimistic for the future. “I have kept the diagnosis confidential and have taken steps to treat the disease with the support of my incredible family,” said Van Der Beek, who also starred in the series CSI. “There is reason to be optimistic and I feel good.”
In a statement published on his Instagram page on Sunday, a few hours after the interview was published, he wrote that he had “received treatment that has improved his general health” and that he intended to speak at length “to raise public awareness”. Van Der Beek had six children with his wife Kimberly and is best known for playing the lead role in the TV series «Dawson’s Creek», which ran from 1998 to 2003. He recently appeared as a guest in an episode of «Walker» and will appear in a film, «Sidelined: The QB », which will be released this year.
