It would have been above all the deep injuries to the head, more than those reported to the left side, that caused the death of Domenico Campana, the 25-year-old from Mirto Crosia who died in the nautical accident that occurred on August 14th at the entrance to the port of Vibo Valentia Marina.
The exam was carried out in the afternoon in Catanzaro by Dr. Matteo Sacco and Professor Isabella Aquila, appointed by the Prosecutor’s Office, in the presence of Dr. Raffaele Gangale, expert for the young man’s family, and Dr. Katiuscia Bisogni for the doctor under investigation.
The laceration caused by the impact
The examination would have highlighted the main cause of death as the deep laceration to the head sustained in contact with the hull of the dinghy.
Campana was on the left side of the rented fiberglass boat together with seven other friends when the collision occurred with a dinghy driven by a Bolognese dentist, originally from the Vibo area, investigated by the Vibo Prosecutor’s Office for nautical homicide.
The other occupants suffered minor injuries, with the exception of a girl who suffered fractures to her pelvis, head and elbow.
Investigations into the dynamics of the collision
The prosecutor’s investigations are now focused on the reconstruction of what happened in the external part of the entrance to the port and on the circumstances that led to the collision between the two boats.
