Reggina disaster. Amaranto was twice ahead of Athletic Palermo, recovering twice until the final draw was 2-3. Another embarrassing performance from the Strait team is worth the sixth defeat in twelve games and now we have to look over our shoulders at the lowest point in Amaranth history.

There is little or nothing to save in the performance offered by Torrisi’s team. A bit of dynamism on the pitch and some decent offensive play were not enough to avoid yet another bad impression, caused by many defensive errors and a totally inadequate game organisation.

The illusion was Pellicanò’s header (cross from Barillà), for a first goal thwarted by Mazzotta’s goal at the end of the first half. A deserved draw considering the many opportunities wasted by the Sicilians.

Reggina was expected to attack in the second half, but instead we saw a team still incapable of dominating the game and producing scoring opportunities consistently. The new advantage was generated by a great play by Edera: twenty meters running moving from right and left and left-footed from twenty meters into the far corner.

The illusion lasted a few minutes, because Micoli and Salazar, taking advantage of the amaranth defensive gaps, scored the comeback goals. With over twenty minutes to play there would also have been time to try to recover, but the feat was not in the cards for this Reggina.
