Elections in Messina: the centre-right has chosen in the neighbourhoods, but Forza Italia loses two more pieces

The centre-right in Messina resolves a problem that risked becoming a big problem, that of the presidencies of the constituencies. But it has to face another one, that of the “escape” of the candidates, which never before seems to be a factor in the formation of the teams that will face each other as in this long pre-election phase.
Let’s go in order: on Wednesday evening, after weeks of discussions, meetings and frictions, the final choice of candidates for the presidency of the former Districts was reached. Above all, the knot that had proven to be the most delicate was resolved, the one relating to the fourth district: the winner of the run-off with the former municipal councilor Peppe Chiarella, proposed by Forza Italia, was another former councilor, Nicola Cucinotta, who had been in the League for some years, close to Nino Germanà, after a past close to Francantonio Genovese. It was the last piece, which unlocks the rest of the mosaic, made up of five outgoing presidents: Alessandro Costa, who has just left the South and calls the North to join the Brothers of Italy, in the first constituency; Davide Siracusano in second place, in the Grande Sicilia-Mpa quota as Raffaele Verso in fifth place and Francesco Pagano in seventh place; the Melonian Alessandro Cacciotto in third. The picture is completed by another Northern League member, Salvatore Scandurra in the sixth district. All seven candidates will be officially presented tomorrow evening, when the mayoral candidate Marcello Scurria will inaugurate the electoral committee in via Tommaso Cannizzaro (formerly Bar Select), together with the party leaders – including regional ones, who will shortly before attend the pro Ponte demonstration.
