English football in mourning. Kevin Campbell: former Arsenal and Everton striker, dead at 54

Day of mourning in English football. After the news of the sudden death of Milwall goalkeeper Matija Sarkic, born in 1997, Arsenal and Everton announce the death of Kevin Campbell, 54, former striker. Campbell discovered he was ill last month and his condition rapidly worsened.

In his career he collected 148 goals in 542 games wearing the shirts of 8 clubs: he grew up at Arsenal, after loans to Leyton Orient and Leicester he returned to the Gunners, winning a championship, an FA Cup, a League Cup and a League Cup Cups. Then the move to Nottingham Forest, the experience at Trabzonspor and, in March 1999, the arrival at Everton where with 9 goals in the last 8 matchdays he was decisive for salvation. He will remain at Goodison Park for another five seasons before ending his career between West Bromwich and Cardiff.
