Rediscover the value of Made in Italy, craftsmanship, tailoring. This is the theme of the national initiative promoted by Cna Federmoda “Welcome to the atelier” which stopped in Reggio Calabria. The protagonist is the designer, entrepreneur and president of CNA Federmoda Calabria Giosì Vittoria Barbaro whose project received the patronage of the Department of Architecture and Design of the Mediterranean University and the Chamber of Commerce of Reggio Calabria.

Two days of sharing and vision for the future

Two intense days of the Calabrian event began with the participation of the president in the university conference “Handmade in Italy for local development”, in which an important project on design and production activities in five regions of Southern Italy was presented. Subsequently, students and teachers visited the president’s atelier in a moment of sharing and vision for the future

President Barbaro’s statements

«Our identity is going through a moment of crisis that the Italian entrepreneurial system will necessarily have to be able to overcome by virtue of the enormous and very important substance that distinguishes our Made in Italy», states Barbaro.
«Craftsmanship, one of the most important components of true luxury, continues to decline, running the risk of disappearing forever. And it’s not just an economic loss. It is a cultural loss – continues the president of CNA Federmoda Calabria -. What we hope for is an effective turning point, which can impact the territory, placing attention on handmade design, rediscovering our traditions, strengthening our Southern Italy.”
«We need to network between schools, universities, trade associations and businesses. It is important to arouse young people’s curiosity again, make them motivated and actively involve them in projects that reflect their identity”, he concludes. An objective achieved given that the project with the students of the Mediterranean University will continue for the entire duration of the year, fully involving them in the development of collection prototypes.

The vision of CNA Calabria

“The CNA cultivates a new image of craftsmanship, completely renewed, which wants to bring young people closer and make them protagonists – states the president of CNA Calabria Giovanni Cugliari -. Initiatives such as Benvenuti in Atelier, the opening of artisan businesses to the university world, are useful in showing the change underway, as well as their value. The president of CNA Federmoda Barbaro fully represents our vision”.
