Over 6 million euros to support Calabrian municipalities in the recovery of degraded areas and for the reclamation of public spaces disfigured by waste abandonment phenomena.
This is what is foreseen in the public notice for the financing of environmental restoration, recovery and redevelopment interventions promoted by the Calabria Region, through the Environment, Landscape and Urban Quality department, in order to support the work of environmental regeneration in the regional territory.
The tender concerns, in particular, two types of intervention: environmental restoration of state-owned areas along the waterways affected by the abandonment of special, dangerous and non-hazardous waste (with a budget of over 3 million 950 thousand euros); recovery and redevelopment of degraded public areas, with waste removal interventions and environmental redevelopment works (with a budget of 2 million 200 thousand euros).
The expenses covered by the contributions are those strictly necessary for the works, waste removal operations and technical expenses, with a contribution that will vary between 100 and 200 thousand euros for each project.
“Another fundamental step forward in terms of environmental protection and the regeneration of public areas which – states the regional councilor for the Environment, Antonio Montuoro -, due to illegal conduct by citizens, often turn into illegal open-air landfills with all the negative consequences for hygiene and health”.
“With this important initiative, the Region demonstrates its closeness to the municipal administrations which, in most cases, are unable to deal with the phenomena of environmental degradation only with their own budgets. Through this call – specifies Montuoro – we want, precisely, to offer concrete support in the action carried out against pollution and to restore decorum in the territories, contributing to making our region more sustainable and livable”.
Calabrian municipalities that have no debts towards the Region for waste or drinking water disposal services, or that have signed up to specific installment plans, can access the tender.
Applications must be sent exclusively via certified email to the Environment department of the Calabria Region within 20 days of the publication of the Notice on the Region’s institutional website.
Requests must be accompanied by a technical-economic feasibility project, an intervention timetable, and photographic documentation of the areas to be redeveloped.
